Twelve children from 2nd Class will receive their First Holy Communion in the Church of the Assumption, Tullaroan on Sunday May 20th 2012.
22 children from 5th and 6th classes were confirmed by Bishop Freeman, in the Church of the Assumption, on Sunday May 6th 2012.
We had five winners in the I.N.T.O. Handwriting competition. Molly won 2nd prize and Anna won 3rd prize in the Junior Infant category and Darragh won 3rd prize in the Senior Infant category. Laura won 1st prize in the category for 1st/2nd classes and Rebecca won 3rd prize in the category for 5th/6th classes. They were presented with their prizes by Mayor David Fitzgerald at a function in Springhill Hotel, Kilkenny, on Tuesday 13th March ’12.

Laura went on to win 2nd Prize in the All-Ireland Competition, in the category for 1st/2nd Classes.
She was presented with her framed certificate and silver medal at a ceremony in Dublin Zoo, on Saturday April 21st. She is pictured here with Ms. Anne Fay, President I.N.T.O., Ms Emma O’Driscoll, R.T.E. and Mr. Aidan Power of E.B.S.
The Thomas Moore Young Singers’ Competition was held in the Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny, on Sunday the 26th February, 2012. We had 15 entrants, from 3rd to 6th classes.
All performed very well, with several achieving Highly Commended and Very Highly Commended. Tomás came 2nd in the category for 3rd/4th Classes and Adam came 3rd in the category for 5th/6th Classes.
All the children of Scoil Ruadháin, from 3rd class to 6th class, took part in Kilkenny Peace Proms in the Hub, Kilkenny on Saturday 11th February. Altogether, 1200 children from schools all over Counties Kilkenny and Carlow had this opportunity to perform with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland.
Kilkenny Peace Proms was organised by the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland in association with Kilkenny Education Centre.
Choirs performed with the internationally acclaimed Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI), and were led by Ireland’s premier conductor, Maestro Gearóid Grant. The concert featured one of our finest tenors Emmanuel Lawler, renowned Uilleann Piper Patrick Martin and outstanding Violinist Patricia Treacy, in addition to magnificent drum and piping corps.
The orchestra gained international recognition following sell-out performances at world renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, New York; Chicago Symphony Hall; Boston Symphony Hall, and major venues throughout California and Europe.
Only last year the CBOI won an international award for the “Most Outstanding Performance” at the Shanghai Expo in China. The CBOI will make their London debut at the Royal Albert Hall in October next.
The CBOI has performed for President McAleese at Áras and Uachtaráin and for Queen Elizabeth II at Hillsborough Castle.

The pilgrimage commenced in the Archdiocese of Dublin on 17th March 2011, when the bell was blessed by Archbishop Martin in the Pro Cathedral in Dublin. It was then brought to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, from where it continued its journey from diocese to diocese.
The Bell and the accompanying Icons arrived in Tullaroan on Wednesday.
January 11th 2012. The pilgrimage will end in a final pilgrimage ceremony at the opening of the International Eucharistic Congress in the Archdiocese of Dublin in June 2012.
During the year the Bell and the accompanying Icons will have traversed the island of Ireland, having also journeyed to Lourdes, Rome and Manchester.
