We in Scoil Ruadháin have a great tradition of choral singing.
The school choir has participated in many competitions, winning various prestigious awards e.g. Kilkenny Music Festival, Slógadh and A.I.M.S., New Ross.

KILKENNY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2017.
Five of our pupils entered the solo competitions in the Kilkenny Music Festival, which was held in St. Canice’s primary school on the 7th of March, 2017. They all performed very well. Josh was awarded second prize in the Boys Vocal Solo competition which was open to unchanged voices up to and including 14 years. He sang The Rose of Mooncoin.

KILKENNY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2014.
The school choir entered two competitions in the Kilkenny Music Festival, which was held in Gaelscoil Osraí on Sunday March 9th, 2014. The pieces sung were ‘Panis Angelicus’ in the Junior Sacred Music Competition and ‘Peigín Leitir Móir’ in the Edward Logue Shield. They were awarded 1st prize and 2nd prize respectively.

KILKENNY PEACE PROMS 2012.
All the children of Scoil Ruadháin, from 3rd class to 6th class, took part in Kilkenny Peace Proms in the Hub, Kilkenny on Saturday 11th February, 2012. Altogether, 1200 children from schools all over Counties Kilkenny and Carlow had this opportunity to perform with the internationally acclaimed Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI), and were led by Ireland’s premiere conductor, Maestro Gearóid Grant.

KILKENNY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011.
Singing awards have also been won by individual singers in these competitions.
On Thursday March 10th 2011, Eva, Máirín, Éilís and Áine entered the Kilkenny Music Festival Vocal Solo competition. Éilís was awarded 1st prize and Áine won 2nd prize in the Junior section. Máirín won 1st prize in the Senior section. Well done to the three sisters!
Pupils from Scoil Ruadháin took part in the Thomas Moore Young Singers’ Competition which was held in the Watergate Theatre on Sunday, March 6th, 2011.
We had two prize-winners, Éilís in the Junior section and Dylan in the Senior section, who both won First Prize. Well done!

THOMAS MOORE COMPETITION 2009.
School Choir 2008-2009
Twelve students took part in the Thomas Moore Competition on Saturday 28th November ’09. All performed very well.
Máirín won 3rd prize in the Junior 2 Competition for 5th and 6th classes. Alice and Dylan were Very Highly Commended. Niamh was Highly Commended.
