Scoil Ruadháin, Tullaroan, Kilkenny

Best wishes to our 6th class pupils in their new schools! We wish them all the very best in the future. Go n-éirí an bóthar libh!

The annual swimming gala was held in the Watershed at the end of June. The school team did very well, winning several medals, and an enjoyable day was had by all.

Betty Payne took the children on a guided tour of Tullaroan. She told them many interesting things about life in Tullaroan when she was growing up there in the 1940s and 1950s. It was very entertaining and enjoyable.

We recently had a visit from Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan, an organic farmer, on behalf of the Heritage in Schools Scheme. Vincent gave a presentation to all classes about Irish farming, past and present, and Irish wildlife, including wildflowers. The children had the opportunity to make flour, using an old flour mill. Everybody enjoyed the experience!

The children of 5th and 6th classes enjoyed a tour of Kilkenny at the beginning of June. They visited many historical sites including St. Canice’s Cathedral and the Black Abbey.

They had lunch in Supermac’s and spent the afternoon in the castle park.

The Senior School Tour to University of Limerick Activity Centre was a great success. Even though it was a very wet day, the children enjoyed a variety of indoor activities  and finished the day with canoeing and rafting.

22 children from 5th and 6th classes were confirmed by Rev. Fr. Guilfoyle in the Church of the Assumption, on Sunday May 21st 2017.

Fourteen children from 2nd Class received their First Holy Communion in the Church of the Assumption, Tullaroan on Sunday May 7th, 2017. Everybody enjoyed the lovely ceremony.
